Walter "Buster" Henage

Walter "Buster" Henage, 87, of Jerome died Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Ashley Manor in Jerome.

Born to Earl Henage and Merna Ferguson Wambolt in Jerome, ID on July 01, 1934, he was the oldest of five.  When Buster was around 10, he contracted a disease known as polio, which severely crippled his lower body.  He spent a lot of our childhood in and out of hospitals with back surgeries and dealing with a lot of pain.  But that never stopped him from being a good husband, father, and grandpa.  He loved joking around and teasing whenever he could, just to see a smile.

Buster married Barbara Fae Boyd on June 11, 1957.  They had 5 children, 3 of whom passed within few days of birth.  After 39 1/2 years of marriage, Mom passed in 1996.  Dad mourned her until the day he died.  He married Mari Jensen and later divorced.

Dad worked in different industries during his life.  He was a truck stop manager, truck driver, and security guard.  But his favorite was working as a custodian with Mom for the Jerome School District.
When he retired from the school district he found his perfect fit.. a WalMart greeter!  Dad was such a "people person"  and made many lasting friendships.

Dad loved camping and spending time with family.  He belonged to a Christian organization known as the Frontiersman Camping Fraternity and he went all over the Northwest as "Grizzly Skinner" educating young men about the Lord.

Dad is survived by 2 children, Douglas (Connie) Henage, Martha "Marty" (Rick) Kuhn,  8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren,  2 great great grandchildren,  2 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife, 3 children, and 2 sisters.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ashley Manor for the loving care that Dad received.

A celebration of Dad's life will be held later in the summer.

As dad never said goodbye, in his words "Bye bye for now!"
