With profound sorrow and broken hearts, we must announce that on November 11, 2024,
Rocky Vernon Olander passed away unexpectedly. He was only 64 years old.
Rocky was born June 4 th, 1960, to Vernon and Janet Olander. He attended schools in Buhl,
Idaho. Rocky was a mischievous and kind young man.
Rocky discovered a true passion for heavy equipment and trucks at an early age, which stayed with him throughout his life.
In May of 1980, Rocky married the love of his life, Brenda, and together they raised 2 beautiful daughters – Bethany and Kelli. Rocky was always proud of his girls. He worked hard to provide for his family.
Rocky was known for his work ethic. He was never late to work a day in his life. He believed that
giving 100% to something was not good enough. For nearly 20 years he owned and operated
his own small fleet of trucks. Nights and weekends were dedicated to maintaining and servicing
his trucks.
Rocky is survived by his two daughters Bethany (Jody) Griggs and Kelli Olander, grandchildren
Jaden and Brianna Griggs, grand pups Cooper, Cruise, Jenny, Jinx, Kyda, Pippen and Snickers,
his father Vernon Olander, his bothers Rick (Cindy) Olander, Rusty (Susan) Olander, his sisters
Camilia Olander, Sherri Tyler, many nieces and nephews – including TJ whom he loved as his
own son.
Rocky was preceded in death by his mother Janet and stepmother Shirley.
Rocky had a kind heart. His door was always open, and he was always willing to lend a tool, and his expertise to anyone who needed it. Rocky was loved by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the first responders from Jerome
County and his work team at Nix Excavation.
A celebration of life will be planned for November 30, 5 pm at Jerome Country Club.
Family and friends are welcome to bring memories and stories to share with others.
