Joyce Marlene Rogers Stanger
1934-2024
Joyce Rogers Stanger passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, in Twin Falls, ID, at the age of 90. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Pocatello, ID, to Captain Walter and Mina Jones.
Joyce lived in Shoshone, ID, until she married Hal Rogers on July 22, 1951. They raised six children together. They moved many times, living in Idaho, Montana, Arizona, South Dakota, Colorado and Alaska. Most of these places were Indian Reservations or remote areas.
Joyce was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many opportunities to serve in these areas. She had a great love for children and welcomed many foster children into her home.
She later met and married Melvin Stanger, with whom she had many adventures. She loved going to the mountains and enjoyed tent camping well into her 80s. Joyce loved spending time with her family, traveling and creating flower arrangements according to the seasons.
Joyce is survived by her six children, Tom Rogers and his wife Joan of Collinsville, OK; Lela Andrew of Burley, ID; Craig Rogers and his wife Tamy of Bethel, AK; Todd Rogers and his wife Debbie of Spokane, WA; Christy Davis and her husband L J, of Bethel/Wasilla, AK; Dixie Kaneaster of Hagerman, ID; her brother, Lavon Jones of Boise; nephews, Michael Jones, Wally and Wesley Tanner; niece, Tammy Dixon; Melvin Stanger of Jerome/Twin Falls, ID; and 41 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Captain Walter and Mina Jones, three siblings who died in infancy, first husband, Hal Rogers, brother, Ray Jones, sister, Sharon Owens.
Services will be held at the Demaray Funeral Home in Jerome, Idaho on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone, Idaho.
